The Authority took the decision to trial a webcast facility in February 2008 after looking closely at how it could make it easier for people to take an interest in the work of the Authority and how it ensures that Surrey Police delivers an efficient and effective service. This initial trial saw 85 visitors tune in online to follow proceedings as the Authority set the police budget for the coming year. Since the trial began, more than 1,000 visitors have accessed the webcast page.

The webcast enables users to see who is who on the Authority and have a chance to hear the views and comments of Senior Officers from the Force. The site also enables the user to feedback comments as the meeting is taking place and also to view the reports being discussed and any presentations given in real time.

This web cast facility is at an early stage in its evolution and the Authority welcomes any feedback from users that may improve the service that we can offer.
