Surrey Police Authority Wins Gold

Gold was awarded to Surrey Police Authority in the recent Chartered Institute of Public Relations New Pride Awards 2007 on the 21 November in the Best Website category.

The Authority entered the competition alongside Dial Media Group who assists in the managing and maintenance of the site and who earlier in the year was involved in the redesign of the Authority’s website.

The criteria for the award was for a website produced by an organisation in the public or private sector that successfully reflects its aims, objectives and culture, and interacts and communicates with stakeholders.

The judges’ comments on the Authority’s entry were positive and reflected the efforts of both the Authority and Dial Media Group, ‘Surrey Police Authority has an easily accessible site which offers easy interaction, covering key areas likely to be visited most frequently, while at the same time offering clear paths to more specialised parts of the site. The look and feel is bright and business like at the same time. Clearly a site based on user needs.’

The Chief Executive of Surrey Police Authority said, “I am delighted at the recognition from the Institute, particularly that the website is easy to use and accessible. Our aim has been to enable local people to get hold of key information about Surrey Police Authority and Surrey Police easily and quickly. We will do our utmost to maintain this high standard.”

In support of the award the Chairman of Surrey Police Authority was delighted and said, “This award is yet another example of recognition of the high standards of performance by the Authority’s Chief Executive and staff. In this case it is for the effective use of Information Technology embodied in the Authority’s website to help ensure that the community continues to have ready and reliable access to information on policing in Surrey, an important contribution to maintaining confidence in our position as the safest county in the country”.
