18/06/2010 - First meeting of Surrey First Joint Committee announced

In March 2010, Surrey Police Authority joined the 'Surrey First' initiative, a partnership arrangement which will look into opportunities for joint working and generating cost savings, through collaboration, between Surrey County Council and the 11 district and borough councils in Surrey. A Joint Committee has been set up to determine the range of services that could, in future, be provided through a Joint Venture Company. Possible areas for collaboration opportunities include procurement, HR, payroll, treasury management, internal audit, legal services, asset management and ICT.

The first meeting of the Surrey First Joint Committee is to be held on 28 June 2010 in the Council Chamber, Civic Offices, Woking. The meeting will begin at 10.00am. Items on the agenda will include the election of a Chairman and Vice Chair, a constitution, terms of reference and ways of working.
