16/06/2010 - Surrey Police Authority to meet on 30th June at Guildford Borough Council

The next meeting of Surrey Police Authority (SPA) will take place at 7pm on 30th June in the Council Chambers at Guildford Borough Council.

Amongst the papers discussed by the Authority at this meeting will be results from the first wave of local consultations carried out by Surrey Police into alternative locations for residents of Guildford, Surrey Heath, Spelthorne and Woking to meet with their local policing teams. These consultations form part of the package of major changes currently underway at Surrey Police to reduce senior officer numbers, simplify the structure of the force and replace expensive and little-used police stations with more accessible and cost effective alternatives. The money saved will put the force on a stronger financial footing and allow for the recruitment of up to 200 additional constables.

As with all SPA public meetings, there will be an opportunity for attendees to put their questions to the Authority and the Chief Constable on strategic policing issues that matter to them. Alternatively, members of the public can submit questions in writing for answering on the day without attending in person.

A full agenda and documentation for the meeting will be made available at the Surrey Police Authority website www.surreypa.gov.uk in due course.

If you would like to attend the meeting or put a question to the Authority, please write to us at: Surrey Police Authority, PO Box 412, Guildford, Surrey GU3 1BR, or email SPA@surrey.police.uk. Any questions will be posed at the meeting for the Authority and Police force to respond. If you would like to ask a question but will be unable to attend, the Authority will be pleased to send a written version of the response given at the meeting.
